Lake Lanier Temperature and Dissolved Oxygen report for 10/05/2012
Here are the Temp/DO reports for Lake Lanier from 10/05/2012, provided by the GA WRD.
Remember stripers over 6 lbs or so prefer water temps from the mid 50’s to the mid 60’s with a dissolved oxygen level of 4-5 parts per million (ppm) or higher. The striper can live with DO as low as 2, but they will be “out of breath” and not be very active. As you can see there is a narrrow band where those temps and DO level exist at the same depths. This is the “squeeze” you often hear about in late summer. Hopefully the surface temps will drop quickly with this cold snap and the fish will be free to roam the entire water column.
