November is Striper Scale Collection Month on Lanier!
The GA DNR/WRD has asked the Lanier Striped Bass Coalition and all other Lake Lanier Striper Anglers to collect as many as possible striped bass scale samples for study. The collection period will be the entire month of November, 2012. The scales will be used to determine growth rates and year class recruitment. Performing the scale removal procedure is quite easy and is explained in the video below. Scale sample collection envelopes and sample envelopes collection boxes are located at Hammonds Fishing Center and OakWood Bait and Tackle. The LSBC would like to thank Hammonds & Oakwood for thier assistance in this effort and all their support in previous efforts of the LSBC.
The Lanier Striped Bass Coalition will continue to work with both the stake holders of Lanier’s Striper Fishery and the GA WRD/DNR to do everything possible to ensure the best possible Lake Lanier striper fishery.
