Lake Lanier Temperature / Dissolved Oxygen report for August 2014

August 2014 Lake Lanier Temp / DO report

Here are the Temp/DO reports for Lake Lanier from August 2014,  provided by the GA WRD/DNR.

Remember stripers over 6 lbs or so prefer water temps from the mid 50’s to the mid 60’s with a dissolved oxygen level of 4-5 parts per million (ppm) or higher.  The striper can live with DO as low as 2, but they will be “out of breath” and not be very active.

We hope the inclusion of sampling the mouth of Flowery Branch will be continued during Sept and Oct’s sampling.  It great to have an additional data point available.

Water quaility above Browns Bridge is poor.  There is a thin band of high quailty water @ Browns Bridge, with a wide band of marginal quality available. The water quaility is very good at the mouth of Flowery branch, with distinct DO “bubble” forming.  It will be interesting to see how it continues to deveople.  Down at Burford Dam, water conditions are excellent from 35ft or so down to 120ft.
